Enter Into Twilight: Celebration of Bats

Belmont County Soil and Water Conservation District, St. Clairsville Public Library, OSU Extension, ODNR, DOW, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Denoon Lumber and Belmont Savings Bank are sponsoring Enter Into Twilight: Celebration of Bats during Bat Week (Oct. 24-31, 2018) on October 29 from 4:30 -7 p.m. at the St. Clairsville Bike Trail Gazebo (intersection of Hutchison Drive and Sunset Drive). The free event will feature candy, bat stuff, and door prizes including three chambered bat house and bat books. Come out and celebrate bats and learn more about how they are important to our ecosystem. There will be a live demo of a Big Brown Bat showcased by Ohio Wildlife Center, and a virtual reality experience 360 degree Batnado of Bracken Cave. There will be a story walk along the trail with several stations including parts of bats, bat habitat, echolocation, myths of why bats are scary, importance of bats, decline of bats, what's being done to help them, and how to get involved. The Bat House trail will be showcased that was implemented by Belmont SWCD, Ohio Valley Christian Home School Educators, and St. Clairsville City Electric, and sponsored by Denoon Lumber.
